The Muktabodha Indological Research Institute (MIRI) is always keen to meet students of Indology, who are usually the most prolific users of its renowned digital library.
In March, 2019, MIRI personnel visited the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Located in the heart of the Bloomsbury district of London, SOAS is the world’s leading institution for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
At the invitation of Dr Lidia Wojtczak, Senior Lecturer in Sanskrit at SOAS, Professor David Katz, Chairman of MIRI’s Board of Directors, and Dr Mark McLaughlin, Senior Lecturer, South Asian Religions at the College of William and Mary, and also Chairman of MIRI’s Academic Advisory Council, gave a joint presentation on the breadth and scope of MIRI’s activities as well as its future projects.
The audience, comprising mostly post-graduate students of Sanskrit, asked several learned questions on the role of digitisation in the future, to ensure preservation for generations to come.
In light of the enthusiastic response from SOAS and its students, MIRI intends to increase scholarly presentations at universities and academic institutes around the world in the coming years. In doing so, it will be able to successfully meet the needs of current, and future, users of its digital library.
