Support Muktabodha

Since its inception in 1997, MIRI has accomplished much, thanks to the contributions of a small cadre of volunteers and some paid staff.

Over the last two decades, we have digitized more than 2,600 Sanskrit manuscripts and made them freely available to the world through our online Digital Library. Today, the MIRI library is a much-valued research tool for Indological scholars worldwide.

Our next phase of development will focus on long-term sustainability. We intend to increase our digital collection of Sanskrit texts, and keep it accessible as a cutting-edge research tool to scholars and seekers globally for generations to come. We also have exciting plans to translate key Kashmir Shaiva texts into English.

Achieving these long-term goals requires increased funding and support. In 2019, MIRI created the Muktabodha Indological Research Institute Fund in partnership with the Cleveland Foundation, a public charity and the world’s first community foundation specialising in non-profit investment management.

So now, in addition to general donations, well-wishers can, if they choose, also donate directly into this endowment fund to support future sustainability.

MIRI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation In the U.S., and in India, it is a registered charitable trust. Contributions in either country are tax-deductible. Contributions in India are tax deductible under Section 80G.

Special New Tax Guidelines for Charitable Donations: For the 2020 tax year, taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions can take an above-the-line charitable deduction of up to $300 for certain charitable contributions ($600 for married couples). In addition, for 2020, the deduction available on cash contributions to charitable organizations has been increased from 60 percent of a taxpayer’s AGI to 100 percent. (Contributions to donor-advised funds are not eligible.) For corporations, the deductibility of cash contributions has been increased temporarily from 10 percent to 25 percent of taxable income.
